A very good copy, in a supplied dust jacket, price-clipped and with some tiny tears at the edges but overall very good and attractive. A decent copy in a nice dust jacket. In the delicate dust jacket, without repairs or restoration. 'Extraordinary' as indicated by the fabulous Allen Lewis illustration of Jorkens fending off a unicorn with his hunting rifle which adorns the dust jacket and also the illustrated title page. Lord Dunsany [pseud. Edward Plunkett] (1878-1957) - Edward John Moreton Drax Plunkett, 18th Baron of Dunsany was an Anglo-Irish writer and dramatist, notable for his work in fantasy published under the name Lord Dunsany. More than eighty books of his work were published, and his oeuvre includes hundreds of short stories, as well as successful plays, novels and essays. Born to one of the oldest titles in the Irish peerage, he lived much of his life at perhaps Ireland's longest-inhabited home, Dunsany Castle near Tara, received an honourary doctorate from Trinity College, and died in Dublin -- Provenance: Neat owners name of Anna Bodwell Vining. First edition, preceding the first English edition which was published by William Heinemann, London. -- Thick octavo (book size 19.2x13.5cm), p. [2] vii [3] 303 [5].
