This is the Incunabula hardcover with "FIRST EDITION" and full printing line with "1" on its copyright page. It is elegantly signed, with no personalization or inscription, on its title page by author John Crowley. This book and its dust jacket are in fine condition. The book's binding is sound and square, with no spine crease. Its covers are unmarked and unworn, with bright gilt titles on its spine. Pages are unworn and otherwise unmarked. Not a remainder. Its dust jacket, now protected by a removable mylar cover, is whole, bright, unmarked, and unworn. I will ship this book in a moisture proof zip-loc bag, padded in bubble wrap, inside a sturdy box to assure it reaches its proud new owner in the same condition as my description.

Octavo, cream wrappers printed in black. Advance copy (uncorrected proof) of the first edition. "Crowley is best known for his novels, which tend to be long and intricately plotted, but he is also capable of creating quality work of shorter lengths. Thus the seven fantasy and science fiction stories collected here perhaps give readers a greater appreciation of the strength of Crowley's imagination, erudition, and literary style while not getting swept up in a complex story . Each story here is a small well-crafted gem, highly allusive yet not obtrusively so, full of emotion -- mostly longing and especially wonder, a response fantasy airs for but rarely achieves with the force Crowley is able to supply." - Barron, ed., Fantasy and Horror (1999) 7-84. A fine copy. (#157658)
