British edition, first printing (full print run includes '1'), 1996. First thus. With original unclipped (and unpriced to front inner flap) jacket. With illustrations by P. J. Lynch. First published as part of a collection in Great Britain in 1956 by Eyre & Spottiswoode, this is the first single edition. Jacket has minor patchy edge/shelf wear, very minor browning to spine, the odd small crease/rub to edges, odd small mark and a little pushing/rubbing to head/tail of spine and to corners. Boards are near fine with a hint of pushing to corners and very minor pushing/rubbing to head/tail of spine. Pages are generally clean and the binding is tight. Previous owner's name and date in pen to front end-paper. Pages slightly tanned. Very occasional small mark to pages. No other faults. A nice copy. All books described honestly and accurately. This First Edition and first printing soft cover book was published and printed by The Pergamon Group under their 'Wheaton' imprint in the UK in 1976. The condition of the book is 'Near Fine'. The Introduction is by Maeve Gilmore (Mervyn's wife) who explains the illustrations (which did not previously accompany this story that previously appeared in two anthologies). The book has 61 numbered pages. The illustrations comprise small reproductions of 6 of Mervyn's black and white drawings, printed before the text.
