Minor issues present such as mild cracking, inscriptions, inserts, light foxing, tanning and thumb marking. Overall a good condition item. Boards have mild shelf wear with light rubbing and corner bumping. Some light marking and tanning. Clipped jacket has light edge wear with minor tears and chipping. Mild rubbing and marking. There is sporadic foxing on the early pages but very little in the body of the book. The pages are slightly 'browned' on the first and last pages. Hardback. First edition. Biography of the playwright, novelist and creator of Peter Pan, written by his secretary Lady Cynthia Asquith (daughter-in-law of H. H. Asquith the former British Prime Minister). Letter from Cynthia Asquith to the original owner of book is enclosed - on headed notepaper with full signature. The original owner then bequeathed the book to a library, there are stamps in both the front and back and the original owner's dated name to the front endpaper. Black and white frontis. and six further plates. Blue cloth with gilt titles to spine is very clean but bumped to corners. Dust is worn with small to medium size tears and chips and larger areas of loss to spine ends and corners.
