James Branch Cabell (1879- 1958) was an American author of fantasy fiction. Although escapist literature, his works are ironic and satirical. All of Cabell's works before 1930 were assembled into the grand "Biography of the Life of Manuel", the redeemer of the imaginary land of Poictesme. These are tales of Poictesme where chilvary and gallantry are alive and well; the series follows Manuel and his descendents. 250 pages. 5 x 8 inches. Robert M McBride Publishers, New York, 1922.
