Clean, bright copy of a scarce and marvelous book, one of the great 20th century fantasies for children. I read it myself several years ago and was amazed. Touch of foxing here and there - see pics - and a light bump at foot of spine. Very good plus in a nice unclipped jacket.

A lovely sought after first edition copy of this children's novel from Nicholas Stuart Gray, complete with the unclipped dust wrapper. The scarce first edition of this work. With the publisher's original unclipped dust wrapper. An excellent copy of this whimsical children's book. Four young siblings Bruce, Julia, Andrew and Deirdre Jefferson are staying in their uncle"s rambling Rectory in the South Downs when they find an injured man in a cave. The man tells them he is on the run, and they decide to hide him in a half-forgotten cellar of the Rectory. From British actor, playwright and children's fantasy author, Nicholas Stuart Gray. First edition. Illustrated by Edward Ardizzone. Fine in about about near fine price-clipped dust jacket with touch of sunning to spine and hint of toning to the edge of the rear panel from an old jacket protector. A children's story by the British writer Nicholas Stuart Gray, who has recently been rediscovered with the help of Neil Gaiman who called him "one of the most brilliant children's authors of the 20th century." Nearly all of Gray's books are surprisingly difficult to find, particularly when in the first edition and nice condition like this copy. Very scarce.
