Rear pages are water damaged at the bottom page and text block bottom and top edges. Binding remains firm. Boards have mild edge wear with slight rubbing to surfaces. Mild crushing to spine ends, with fraying cloth and small splits. Book has a slight forward lean. Boards have minor damp and dust stains.

NO margin notes. Biography of the English author and poet Edith Nesbit (1858-1924) who co-founded the Fabian Society. Her married name was Edith Bland. Her children's works (over 60 books, including The Story of the Treasure Seekers, 1898; and The Wouldbegoods, 1899) were published under the name of E. Nesbit. Illustrated with 8 plates, including a photographic frontispiece portrait of her at age 45. Includes a bibliography of her works (pp. 325-330). Index. First printing, with "First Published in 1933" so stated on the copyright page. Bound in the original light brown cloth. First Edition. Hardcover. Pages are lightly tanned and thumbed at the edges, with light foxing. Binding has remained firm. Moderate tape marks to endpapers and pastedowns. Boards are a little rub worn, slight shelf wear to corners, spine and edges. Corners are a little bumped. Spine ends are mildly crushed. Light tanning to spine and edges.
