[Only four of the twelve had been published previously.] Each story is followed by Priest's own critique. CONTENTS: Introduction (on becoming a writer); Going Native, Stranglehold, Star Child, The Witch-Burners, Impasse, Nicholson's Repentances, Combined Operation, The Ostrich Seed, The Ersatz Wine, Conjugation, Chance, The Interrogator; Afterword. 166 pages. CONDITION: The book itself is bright, tight, square, unmarked, and likely unread, with no apparent shelf-wear. Its dustjacket - now in a clear mylar (removable) protective cover - is likewise uncompromised.
