The binding is sound and the contents clean but the cloth binding is quite worn. Cloth at spine and adjacent inch or so of the boards has significant silverfish predation to the sizing/emuslion of the cloth. Over the rear joint the threads of the cloth are exposed and there are a few small holes in the cloth there. Soiling to the rear board and moderate to heavy toning to the cloth at spine. Superficial foxing to the page block edges; thin damp line in the top edge of the margin of some small number of pages. Rear hinge tender. Contents clean and unmarked. Illustrated with toned b&w photos on glazed paper stock. Uncommon in the original edition; this copy is Good only at best

Greville MacDonald (1856 in Bolton - 1944), was the son of influential fantasy writer George MacDonald and his wife Louisa (née Powell).
