You have apparently come to this page from a link on a search engine or another site. If this is your first visit here, I much recommend that you take a few minutes to look over the introductory material accessible via the red “Introductory” zone of the Site Menu available from the “hamburger” icon in the upper right of this (and every) page. An understanding of the purposes and principles of organization of this site will, I hope and believe, much augment your experience here, for this page and in general. THE DUST WRAPPER IS IN POOR CONDITION, WITH HOLES/TEARS. THE BACK INSIDE FLAP IS NOT ATTACHED. THE INSIDE COVER HAS A STICKER PULL MARK AND THE INSIDE FIRST PAGE HAS BEEN REMOVED. THE COVER BINDING INSIDE IS EXPOSED. PAGES GENERALLY APPEAR CLEAN AND CREASE FREE. ALL IN ALL A NICE EXAMPLE OF THIS BOOK.

8vo. 159pp. Stated second printing. Blue cloth-covered boards with gold titles on spine, in price-clipped dust-jacket. Jacket shows light wear at edges and a bit of rubbing along fore-edge of rear panel; overall very vivid and bright, now in protective mylar sleeve. Binding is tight but with a very faint lean. Previous owner's name, dated 1971, on front free endpaper; no other markings. Presumably a review copy sent to notable British folklorist Katharine Briggs, according to Burford bookseller's ticket pasted in on front free-endpaper. B&W illustrations by Charles W. Steward throughout. An uncommon and influential children's fantasy title by a transgender author.

First edition. Illustrated by Charles W. Stewart. Fine in near fine dust jacket with tiny tear and hint of toning. A collection of children's fantasy stories by the British writer Nicholas Stuart Gray, who has recently been rediscovered with the help of Neil Gaiman who called him "one of the most brilliant children's authors of the 20th century." Nearly all of Gray's books are surprisingly difficult to find in the first edition and nice condition.
