Some foxing at upper edge, little spot on front board, corners board, head/tail spine and top of book has lost the red. But a form and very good copy with for each letter a page with text and a full page illustration in black on blue or orange (you may call it pink).20 x 16 cm.

Small 4to. Unpaginated. Yellow cloth with a decoration in black on the front board, black lettering on the spine. Blue and black illustrated endpapers and pastedowns. Pink cloth boards, white marks on front and rear, darkened edges and markings from shelving and handling, corners bumped; binding is tight though front joint partially exposed; pages are unmarked aside from P.L. Travers' signature on front endpaper. Travers dedicates a short message 'To Dr Peter Dally for his children, from P.L. Travers June 1963'. Dr Peter Dally (1923-2005) was the Senior Consultant in psychiatry at Westminster Hospital; he also privately treated several prominent figures at his Devonshire Place pratice, including figures in politics, business, royalty and the arts, and P.L. Travers. Travers agreed to sell the Mary Poppins rights to Walt Disney in 1961, two years after she dedicated this book. Her finances had been a problem, which is said to be a principal reason for agreeing to the Disney offer. It is entirely likely that without the Disney money, she would not have been able to afford Dr Dally's substantial fees!
