364 Pages. This is the Kalki fifth printing September 1927 edition. Brown cloth with gold stamped decoration on the front cover of a springing horse. The title is stamped on the spine and is readable however the gold lettering has faded away. The author dedication reads "To Ellen Glasgow - very naturally-this book which commemorates the intelligence of women". Gerald Musgrave is living a comfortable existence in the early 19th century but finds himself nonetheless dissatisfied -- the book he's writing (a romance about his famous ancestor Manuel) isn't going well, and his affair with his cousin, Evelyn Townsend has become more of an obligation than anything else.
