Clark. 275 pp. The first Tartarus printing was issued in 2010 and was limited to 350 copies; there was a second Tartarus Press Edition issued in 2013. This is the third Tartarus edition issued in 2024. A fine copy in a fine dust jacket, price corner intact. Collects eight fantastic & supernatural stories, plus Notes by the Author. Originally published by Gollancz in 1968, this edition has a New Introduction by R.B. Russell. British short story writer, critic, lecturer and novelist, Robert Aickman is considered by many to be one of the finest modern writers of ghost stories. But Aickman himself referred to his tales as 'strange stories', for they are often open to more complex interpretations. The writing is subtle and poetic, presenting us with both psychological and more material terrors.
