First edition, first printing. The novel was the basis for the 1947 film of the same name, starring Cary Grant, David Niven, and Loretta Young, and later the 1996 film, The Preacher's Wife, starring Denzel Washington, Whitney Houston and Courtney B. Vance. Octavo. Original yellow cloth, titles to spine and front board in black, top edge orange, blue patterned endpapers. With dust jacket. An unusually nice copy in bright cloth of this poorly-produced book, in the bright art deco jacket with a couple of nicks, minor chips and a little rubbing to spine ends and edges.

The author's most elusive book, in pale yellow boards stamped in black with patterned endpapers, and covered with the rare, gently worn jacket with original price of $2.00 on flap. The jacket has chip at top of spine (not affecting title or lettering) shallow nicking to extremities. Basis for the film starring Cary Grant and Loretta Young, and later filmed as "The Preacher's Wife" with Whitney Houston and Denzel Washington. RARE title, especially in this condition.

First Edition, First Printing. An attractive dustjacket that is rich in color with light wear to the edges. This original dustjacket has the printed price present on the front flap. The book is in excellent condition. The binding is tight and square with no cocking. The pages are clean with no writing, marks or bookplates in the book. Overall, a lovely copy of this TRUE FIRST EDITION seldom seen in this nice condition.
