The Dreadful Dragon of Hay Hill: Available Copies

Top portion of boards a bit darkened. Red cloth spine with couple minor chips to spine top and bottom, gold printing on spine bright. Color frontispiece illustration by the author. Light foxing to first few pages front and back. Small binding flaw inside rear paste down where paper should have overlapped the board margin upper top right corner. Otherwise book is clean, complete, and tight. 113 pp.

Red cloth w/ gilt lettering, paper boards, frontis. Corners and spine are bumped and somewhat frayed. with a two-inch long tear from the head of the spine. A few minor dampstains and smudges on covers. Very light pencilled notes and foxing throughout, pages and endpapers are browned from missing jacket possibly. Still a very good looking volume.

Condition: Good+. No DJ. Quarter red fabric over tan paper boards. Gilt lettering to spine. Overall minor wear and soiling to extremities. Joints beginning to crack. Binding solid and true. Pages show some toning, but otherwise clean and clear. Color frontispiece. 112 pages.

The boards are a shelf rubbed, edge worn and marked. There is a pen inscription of the title on the front board. internally, The front end pages has pen scribbles and inscriptions on the front end page as well as an inscription on the title page. The pages are heavily foxed. But text remains legible. a few of the early pages are loose at the bottom. Otherwise tightly bound. [ak]. First edition, first printing. 113pp. Grey boards with a red cloth spine. Plain dustjacket with a very little wear to the corners and the ends of the spine. Colour frontispiece illustration. Internally very clean. The story of Thia and her husband Thol who slays the dragon, and their people in the year 39,000 BC.

Covers are unevenly browned, with some other marks and a bit of scuffing. Foxing to outer page edges. Packaged with care and promptly dispatched!

True first British printing with original unclipped (priced to spine) jacket. Coloured frontispiece by the author. Jacket has patchy edge/shelf wear, one small (approx. 1cm) tear to middle of spine, the odd small mark, patchy browning (including to spine), tiny loss to a couple of corners and a little pushing/rubbing to head/tail of spine and to corners. Boards are very good with the odd very small mark, little pushing/bumping to corners, patchy fading to/near spine, odd small bump/rub to edges and a little pushing/rubbing to head/tail of spine. Pages are generally clean and the binding is tight. End-papers tanned. Top of pages slightly dusty with mild foxing. Minor foxing to page edges and bottoms. Pages slightly tanned. Odd spot of foxing/small mark to pages. No other faults. All books described honestly and accurately. Paypal accepted.

A children's story, written and illustrated by Max Beerbohm. Hardback book, p.114, colour plate at frontis, red buckram spine and grey plain boards in VG+ condition; bookplate of a previous owner on front endpaper, some browning and light scuffing on front endpaper, but o/wise internally in VG condition; complete with dustjacket: dustjacket is plain grey, darkened with age, but with no loss or other damage and, despite age browning, is in VG condition. Overall: a VG copy of this book.

First UK Edition. Original grey boards with red cloth spine, lettered in gilt. Colour frontispiece as called for. A VG++ copy (slightly foxed to the fore-edge) in like D/W with the inevitable slightly darkened spine. A nice copy (better than usually seen).
