Signed, with no personalization or inscription, by author Jack Vance on its title page. This is the Dennis Dobson (UK) first hardcover edition of Vance's fourth story collection. "First published in Great Britain in 1975" on its copyright page. This book is in near fine condition, marred only by light bumps on its spine ends. Its binding is sound and square, with no spine crease. Covers are unmarked and otherwise unworn, with bright silver titles on its spine. Pages are unworn and otherwise unmarked. Its dust jacket, now protected by a removable mylar cover, is also in near fine condition: whole, bright, and unmarked, marred only by a bump with related wrinkling on its front bottom edge. I will ship this book in a moisture proof zip-loc bag, padded in bubble wrap, inside a sturdy box to assure it reaches its new owner in the same condition as my description.

First UK edition, first impression. Some edge wear to top and bottom of jacket and spine, some slight yellowing to white parts of jacket and page block, faint crease to mid front jacket, top corners very slightly bruised, price clipped, no inscriptions, internally clean tight and square, overall a vg+ copy for its age. 125pp. Brilliantly clever sci fi short stories, replete with wonderful twists. A 2009 profile in The New York Times Magazine described sci fi and thriller writer Jack Vance (1916-2013), as 'one of American literature's most distinctive and undervalued voices'. He was also one of the creators of Ellery Queen. Quite a scarce book.
