In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, very smart. There is some minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. The title label to the spine is slightly foxed. There is a small patch of wear to the cloth on the spine. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are very bright and clean. Very Good Indeed

This edition of the first book printed by the John Day Company, was limited to a printing of three thousand copies. This copy has no corner bumping or edge wear, very little rubbing of the covers. Owner's name inked upper fep, otherwise unmarked and tight in binding. Hinges and gutters are solid with very little shadowing of endpapers. Stunning black and white woodcut illustrations. The slipcase is rubbed and quite worn on fore-edge {from frequent removal of the book}, chipped at upper edge.
