Fine Utpatel drawing on front of unclipped DJ $3.50 price). Ten stories in this, Starrett's only collectiion of macabre tales. DJ has mild toning on spine, tiny wrinkle at base back of spine, otherwise near perfect. Book has my name-stamp on ffep and on bottom of text block; otherwise fine. Purchased new from Arkham House, read once; still looks new.

Publisher's black cloth lettered in gilt to spine, light grey endpapers, illustrated dust-jacket by Frank Utpatel with the printed price of $3.50 to front flap. No ink names, contents clean, some gentle toning to spine, rear panel a little dusty. Near fine. Limited to 2000 copies, this is the first Arkham House collection of macabre short stories from the famous Sherlockian writer and authority.

First edition, first printing in original, unclipped, jacket in protective sheet. Containing ten short stories. Jacket design by Frank Utpatel. Jacket is in fine condition with very minor rubbing. Black cloth over boards with bronze gilded lettering on spine. Very light rubbing at head and tail of spine. The interior is clean and clear. Overall a very fine copy. Pages:(6) 145 Dimensions:7¾ x 5â x '5/8'.

Limited edition of 2000 (actually 2047 per Jaffrey) copies printed and bound. Inscribed and signed by Starrett to free endpaper "For --- with cordial greetings from her old friend, Vincent Starrett". Collects 10 tales of horror and the macabre all previously published. Copies of this book signed by Starrett are quite scarce. The Gary Munson copy sold at auction in Feb, 2022 for $2040. A gift inscription from a former owner beneath the authors inscription else fine in bright glossy boards, the grey endpapers with none of fade often seen. Dust wrapper deeply price clipped else very good.
