Knopf. 1949. 1st edition. 196pp. Hardcover with dust jacket.  Book in very good, clean condition with no previous owners marks or signatures.  Dust jacket is in near very good condition, still in one piece, but soiled and shelf-worn with wear and small chips to edges. It is not price-clipped.  

New York: Knopf, 1949. First edition, stated. 12mo. Hard cover binding. 196 pp. Previous owner name on free front endpaper and date on title page. Dust jacket is rubbed at extremities. Very good in good dust jacket, protected with an archival-quality mylar cover.

First printing. Turquoise, white and purple illustrated covers and pick topstain. Appears UNREAD as the textblock is unbroken. Flaws: slight yellowing at cover edges and spine. Minor bumping and edgewear to spine edges and booksellers tiny label attached to ffep. NO markings throughout - NO rem mark or ex-lib. DJ has several small chips and moderate bumping to spine edges. Also some soiling and missing one small (3/16") piece at bottom. Protected in Brodart cover. Price intact: $2.50.

Stated first ed.; deckle edges; 196 p., plus list of author's other titles, immaculate and unmarked; binding firm; green-patterned boards have some fading but little shelf wear thanks to clean, unclipped pictorial d.j. itself having suffered a little wear at corners and crown of spine panel.

Signed presentation from Nathan on the front endpaper: "For Edith Baerwald- one more camping spot on the long river- from her friend Robert Nathan." Edith was wife to Paul Baerwald, founder and long-time chairman of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee. Nathan's aunt was apparently her secretary.
