The story follows the adventures of Scraps, a Patchwork Girl, who embarks on a journey to the Land of Oz in search of a magical emerald that can grant wishes. Along the way, Scraps encounters a cast of eccentric characters, including the Scalawagons, a race of living wagons with their own personalities and abilities. Neill's writing style is characterized by his whimsical and imaginative storytelling, as well as his detailed and vivid illustrations.
