Some of the animals the officer s spirit enters are a cat, a goat, an eel, a fox, and many others. First Edition Second state with green boards with black lettering to the spine. Boards exceptionally bright and clean. Mild foxing to the top edge, offsetting to both sets of end-papers and warping to the boards still overall a VG+ copy. No inscriptions. No fading. A bit cocked with offsetting to the endpapers and ownername of Frank Borden, very good in good dustwrapper moderately rubbed with chips at the spine ends and tears at the extremities. Laid in is a letter from that references Bordern as a "friend of Lord Dunsany's and a student of his work."

The front board is slightly splayed, there is minor offsetting on the endpapers and next inner page, the dust jacket is quite bright, is price-clipped (with new 6 / - price added near the clip), and has minor tears and edgewear. [Fantasy] FIRST EDITION, first impression, second issue cloth. Octavo (19 x 13cm), pp.208. Publisher's green cloth with black titles to spine, typographic dust-jacket. Dust-jacket clipped and repriced by the publisher at 6/- net. An offset mark from a bookmark to title page, otherwise internally crisp and clean. Jacket a little sunned to spine, with moderate wear and chipping to edges. Very good. Colonel Polders is a sceptic about Transmigration until the Pundit Sinadryana enables him to "pass through a breath-taking series of lives in a few minutes in the unfamiliar guise now of a sky-lark, and next a camel, and so on through a goodly part of the animal kingdom's experience, ending up as a flea"

''First published 1950'' on the copyright page. SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR ON THE FRONT FREE ENDPAPER. Page edges a little browned, free enpapers partially browned, boards a little marked, , a VG+ copy in a G/VG dustjacket with edge wear (particularly to both spine edges) and dust-soiling along rear flap fold and top edge of inner flaps.

First edition, presentation copy, inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper, "To Georgie from Dunsany, The Elector's Club S.W.1 Nov 12.1950". This title is scarce inscribed. The recipient, Georgiana Buller (1884-1953), was the closest friend of Dunsany's wife, Beatrice. She was a hospital administrator, a disability rights pioneer, and the founder of the first school dedicated to occupational therapy in Great Britain. She regularly visited the Dunsanys and from the publication of Time and the Gods in 1906 onwards Dunsany sent Buller copies of each of his works, signing some and writing humorous verse in others. She was the dedicatee of The Charwoman's Shadow (1926). Locke, Vol. I, p. 75. Octavo. Original black cloth, spine lettered in gilt, blind rule to front cover. With dust jacket. Spine ends bumped, extremities rubbed, pale stains to outer edges of boards, slight browning to endpapers; jacket unclipped, spine toned, loss to ends, extremities chipped with a few short closed tears: a very good copy in good jacket.
