The jacket is protected by a removable Brodart clear-plastic sleeve. The jacket is rubbed with small edge chips. NO fading. PHOTOS UPON REQUEST. Hinges are PERFECT. Small spots of glue residue from 4 small pieces of tape formerly connecting the jacket to the pastedown endpapers - which have done an excellent job of protecting the book's beautiful cover. Sharp corners. Small edge nick. Square and tight. Previous owner's name filled in the "This Book belongs to" space. Pages are otherwise clean and unmarked. NOT a library discard. Illustrated with numerous b/w drawings by John R. Neill. Bound in the original rust-color cloth, with full color John R. Neill illustration mounted on the front. General fraying and wear to head and tail of spine and to corners of boards. Mild bumping to top edge of front board. Mild scuffing to boards. Binding loosening with gutters visible between both endpapers and pastedowns and rear board nearly detached. Edges of textblock dyed yellow. Tearing to page 27. Age toning throughout. Plates at pages 148 and 224 loose but present. Points: 16-page gatherings except the penultimate 24-page gathering, pictorial black-and-white endpapers, 12 full-color plates, and bold face "Reilly & Lee" imprint to spine. Shelved above Case 14. Condition: DJ price-clipped with minor nicking & chipping to edges; DJ spine slightly sunned; else NF/NF. 275 pages.

First edition, with plates coated both sides and spine imprint in bold face, brick red cloth. Illustrated with 11 (of original 12) color plates and numerous b&w drawings. Very good, about a 2" stain at top of back board, does not affect interior of book, front cover illustration has small scratches.

A likely first printing, 1930 (per Bienvenue p.112), of the tenth in the series of the famous Oz books written by Ruth Plumly Thompson (successor to L. Frank Baum after his death in 1919). With 12 captioned color plates (none are missing), and also illustrated throughout in black & white by John R. Neill. --- In rust cloth-covered boards with color Neill illustration pasted to cover; spine with Neill illustration and titling in black; all textblock edges tinted in yellow. Volume lacks the dust jacket. --- A Good-only copy with repaired front & rear hinges which had loosened, prior owner's penciled name & bookplate affixed to front paste-down, penciled name on ownership page, small tear to cloth at head of spine, white streaks on spine & general light wear to cloth. A discreet Denver bookseller label is affixed to rear paste-down. Textblock itself is tightly-bound.; Tall Octavo - 9 to 10 in. tall; 275 pages
